MIMIRO OPEN

At MIMIRO we are working to improve agriculture and the lives of farmers through digital innovation and the use of data. Alongside commercial services we strongly believe in facilitating an ecosystem where high quality data can be exchanged easily between willing parties. In agriculture, as in many industries, the hidden cost of bad integrations and poor quality data exchange is a huge. We are striving to reduce this and have orders of magnitude impact on entire industries.

To help drive adoption of data driven strategies we are leading by example and contributing to both technology and specialist domains. Our contributions consist of open specifications, open data sets, data models and open source software.

The Universal Data API Specification (UDA) is the evolution of 20 years working on, and with, open standards and APIs. It provides a generic graph data model, json syntax and API for syncing, exposing, querying and updating data in a simple, consistent, idempotent fashion.

In the area of software, the MIMIRO data hub is a UDA compliant graph database with powerful integration, jobs, transformation and query capabilities. We use the data hub internally at MIMIRO to simplify and standardise all integrations, from real time IoT data processing to Master Data Management. The data hub UDA interfaces are exposed securely towards partners for external data sharing.

To make UDA really useable we are also publishing many different Data Layers. These are UDA compliant services that sit in front of things like databases, Apache Kafka and file systems to make them all look the same. To access and control the data hub and the data layers, we have made available the MIMIRO Cli, mim; a powerful command line tool for working with UDA compliant endpoints.

Finally, our efforts in data models and data sets is just getting started. We are working on the CIMA (Common Information Model for Agriculture) which aims to be a lightweight data model for the agriculture sector.
